Industrial compostable

Compostable films can decompose or decay within a determined amount of time when they are in conditions which enable this process, resulting in the production of carbon dioxide, water, minerals and fertilizer (compost). Compostable materials are by definition biodegradable but biodegradable materials are not necessarily compostable.

Industrial composting is carried out in specially designed plants using specific conditions which accelerate the decomposition process.

The European law related to composting is regulation EN 13432
